I'm missing a few original parts for my E9, one of which is the jack, which is in fact a very useful thing to have to hand in extremis! For a uk 1972 CSL, should I have a long handle jack or the jack with the short stubby handle? And how does it stow? I can't see any obvious means of attachment, unlike many other photos I've seen on here of wheel braces, metal plates and wing nuts.

The bolt head poking up through the floor is the hanger for tailpipe.

Cheers

Hm, in non CSL's I am sure there is a M8 pin spotwelded with a 5x5 cm flat plate to the floor. Not sure though if csl's also should have it, I think they did.

Edit: I have a private pic showing a csl with the m8 pin fitted.

The short handled jack belongs to a 2800 I was told by a fellow board member here.

The muffler should have a 60 mm clamp, that attaches to a rubber, bolted to a welded tab under the floor. The tab ( on my car is believed to be original) was a 90 degree bent strip, 30 mm wide, and it stands 33 mm high. The hole has its centre 10 mm from the edge. The flat part that is welded to the floor is 45 mm long. I copied the exact shape in fresh steel and welded it on, spotwelds and strip weld as per original. . See pics.

Thanks for the photos Erik, likely that my car has had a new spare wheel well at some point, and the tailpipe and other attachment points didn't go back as factory.
Interesting that my tailpipe hanger is attached by a hole in about the same place as the M8 jack mounting pin. Makes me think that this hole has been repurposed to hang the exhaust, rather than recreating the welded tab. Looks ok to reinstate this as it should be, photos v helpful
:)

Well there is not supposed to be a hole there, so there was nothing 'repurposed'. The jack pin and exhaust bracket are indeed almost in the same place, but on opposite sides of the panel ofcourse. in my pic you can just make out the 4 spotwelds of the jack pin on the underside picture, partially overlapping on the exhaust hanger tab.

The jack pin is spotwelded on there. It is actually available through Walloth&Nesch.

Ah I see, every day is a school day here. ;)

Was hoping to avoid welding inside the boot space as it's harder to tidy up afterwards. But all can be fixed, I'll put it on the list!

Thanks again for the photos, will be helpful for the welding. Soon I think as the exhaust is already off. The pin should cover the hole, so perhaps easier than I first thought
