Just wondering why you don't want to use the Mann filter? I have used both the Mann and Mahle filters over the years and never ran into a problem using either
I used to buy OE filters for my M10 which was Mahle made in Austria which I preferred. I will use this one which actually looks very robust but the OE BMW part does not have the o-ring included.
So I will be looking for an o-ring and using the Mann filter.
Thanks guys, this just seems to be one of those parts that I will have to either find or re-use.....reminds me of the joys of classic car ownership -- over complicating a simple task!
I have the original bottom bolt. I’ve never had a filter come with the o-ring or the crush washer.
If you’re disappointed about a made in Spain filter then don’t buy from BMW...
Here’s the Mahle; made in Austria.
And a little disappointed that the Walloth one only has a thin layer of paper for the seals on the ends. I’ll be fashioning and adhering proper rubber seals.
for the o-rings just buy a bunch of NBR ones in 4x102 size.
I agree with you that Walloth is a bit light & Mahle vs Mann is the about the same. I just thought the BMW OE would also be Mahle and from Austria but I will give Mann a try as I read good reviews.
As far as o-rings....I really appreciate the heads-up on the link and will try your method. I also have questions regarding all of my electrical and filters for a Csi and may ask you or others for pointers.
Seems like sometimes it is good to buy BMW OE and sometimes better to hunt for other sources or NOS.
