0/40 or 10/40

I would use 0w40 Synthetic on an old Bav engine 10/40 would be fine but hard to fine today. the first number would be how fast the oil flows at startup the lower the number the better the second number is the thickness after oil heats up

0W40 is too thin; I really wouldn't use that unless you are running the car in temperatues below 0 degrees F all the time. Look at a user's manual. 20W50 is the recommended grade for most temperature ranges. I like the fact that Valvoline VR1 has higher amounts of ZDDP so that's what I use.

I use 10w40 in my 735ia -84
I use fully synthetic race 10w 50 in my 2800 s38b38

I used 5w 50 mobil1 in my alpina b9 Engine about 12000miles. Looked like new inside when I took it apart to modify it little bit more.

I my Little Lupo there is 0w30 :p
