Oil grade?

You'll find past threads on this if you do a search but many use 20w50 non-synthetic. I use Valvoline VR1 over Castrol because supposedly it has more zinc additive (ZDDP) which is good for older engines.

Brad Penn Oil

I use Brad Penn oil in an old Porsche. Does anyone use/recommend Brad Penn oil in their coupe?

Pat

I live in North Carolina it can get a bit cold here. I use Redline 20W50, I like how it performs during cold starts. Valvoline takes a bit to long to start flowing when it's cold. Redline also includes zinc (ZDDP) in it's products.

Great insights.
My facetious me must reiterate how obsessed I am lately with olive oil, this time of the year I would get a Picual form the southern hemisphere (Australia, Uruguay, Chile).

so do you treat your e9 with Virgin Olive Oil or Extra Virgin Olive Oil?

I treat the driver to Extra Virgin Picual. Justa got 1/2 a liter from Uruguay yesterday.
The Australian I got here in Palo Alto was very good, also Picual. I thought you guys had a multi-year drought but these olive trees somehow survived...

Any preference on the conventional or synthetic VR1? What is the recommended oil change interval for this oil? I just bought a case after seeing this post. Perfect timing while I do this little renovation on the coupe.

If it has mineral oil in it now I wouldn't switch to synthetic for risk of leaks.

I agree with Steve. Factor to consider: Synthetic oil has different molecular structure than dino' oil. If put in a car that has not had a complete gasket refresh (no dino oil) or all silicon gaskets you will most likely leak. The synth oil has a smaller molecular footprint such that as the old oil seeps out of the gaskets and the synthetic replaces it, the gasket is not as thick due to saturation by smaller mole's. Mineral oil + synth is probably similar.
