My engine builder says the oil pump in my '74 csi needs to be replaced ( part 11411269550 ) . I have been offered a NOS pump 11411286468 which is suitable for E23, E24 & E28 ...this pump is described in one ebay ad as "splined shaft type:". .
There appears to be some" crossover" on these part numbers with the E24 . The upshot is, can the NOS pump be used in my engine?. Many thanks, Simon

Hi Simon, I think it needs the pickup altered to clear the sump. Seem to remember a thread here from a few years ago addressing this.

later pumps have splined shafts so plan on a new gear.
you can bolt the early pick up to the late pump but may need a bit of relieving at the shaft end in the early pickup.

I wasn't happy with my oil pump pressure. Pumps at time NLA
I did some research and did some measuring with machine shop.
Decided to replace this $4.00 part.

Gary, how did you come to the conclusion about the intermediate plate, did it have signs of wear?

Yes it did and was too thin. This allowed for less pressure as this plate sits right next to pump impeller. Maybe oil was going past the side?
My built M30 runs 30-60 psi.
