One owner 72 Bavaria on BaT

for sale by our friend Mario Langsten of VSR. hopeful this will bring all of the money for a Bavaria ...
I’ve seen this Bavaria in person and spoke with the owner at the The Vintage at Saratoga in 2019. Beautifully restored and an extraordinary one owner history. Not many one owner e3s around.
I should put mine on BaT at the same. Half price!
Wil Gran called me 3 years ago about selling. I talked to Mario about Wil & selling due to health concerns he was ~86ish & at least 90ish now.
Wil is the original owner & took excellent care of of it with the help VSR keeping the Senior Six slightly better than new repairing & making improvements with the 5-Speed being the last thing done.
We have known Wil Gran as a genteel & enthusiastic owner who was a regular at Larz Anderson, The Vintage in Asheville & Saratoga Springs.
While I knew Wil’s Bav would eventually be for sale, it was a hard decision & the sobering reality of this listing means infinitely more than a Granatrot 1972 Bavaria.

Andrew, agree about sobering reality part. I just turned 83, and someday the inevitable will happen. I will post a For Sale, 1973 Agave Bavaria, my fifth(two were parts cars). As Andrew Marvell said in "To His Coy Mistress" "And at my back I hear time's winged chariot." Breathing heavy for me. So I soldier on.

Sobering reality. Yes, time does catch up with us. Most of the time, well, we are mostly guys here, we believe we will live forever. In fact, we don't. But we keep doing what we love, and that is great. We are happy chasing our life-long passions, and family and friends identify and connect with our lifestyle. It is who we are.
But we all run out of road a some point. there comes a day we cannot drive our Coupe or Healey, but we can pass them along, so we work on them to keep them ready for that cruise in the sun. I have interacted with Will several years ago, when he was looking for that rear aluminum taillight cover for his immaculate E3. I had one in excellent condition that he purchased and I am happy it met his expectations. In return, he sent me his "business card" that showed a photo of his car and, on the reverse, its amazing history. What an enthusiast, and what a great car for someone to purchase and take it to events and just enjoy.

He is a true enthusiast! We caravanned to the Vintage in Asheville together and did some spirited driving. You could count of him t attend the Vintage at Saratoga and the BMW CCA Concours at Lara Anderson Museum and at Prowse Farm. A gentleman throughout.

sold too inexpensively at 18,750 ... i was expecting to see something starting with at least a 2 ... and was hoping to see it pushing a 3
Surprising result even in the current market No reserve was a gamble.
Me too, but it's a tough collector car market right now. I do believe it would have done 25-30% more in 2021/22. The buyer got a bargain on a beautiful, well sorted E3 with a special provenance. Congrats to him.
Agree completely with the three posts above. A special car.
