Opinion on detailing aluminum

Well slowly getting there, the motor assembly is by my brother, machining work at ASF, some painting and $ by me, I keep thinking about starting a restoration thread, but will wait until I can organize it

Yes the polished ribs of the valve cover are very cool. Might have to steal that look! Mark, any special technique you used to do that while not hitting the flat areas?
Well first my valve cover was looking a little scruffy so I bead blasted it
Then I masked all the areas I didn't want to polish, with many layers of masking tape
Then I blocked sanded it, polished it with a buffer wheel on a Dremel
Then I took it to a local shop to have it clear coated, they screwed it up, their "expert" re-polished part of it and didn't mask it so sort of screwed up some of the other area
It looked better before I took it to those knuckle heads
So lots of careful masking, a bit time consuming around the BMW logo

I like Cerakote. Need to spray it on with a gun but it is extremely durable, looks good and you can clean it with brake cleaner. I think I used Silver color.
