I purchased some of the clear/smokey lenses for the front turn signals.

I installed them yesterday, and I really like the look, particularly how it blends with the chrome up front and the polaris body color.

My coupe has a sporting theme to it, and there are a number of elements that I have changed to enhance the Alpina elements. Such that the coupe has many Alpina and modified pieces inside and out to give the look, stance and driving experience that I was dreaming of.

As much as I like the clean look of the smokey lens... I am not sure... welcome some counselling from the forum as to whether I stay with the clear or go back to the orange and slightly bigger profile lens?...

Compare photos in sequence, I tried to show like for like angles.

The clear/smokey lenses are interesting. At first glance they looked odd but after scrolling through the photos a couple of times I find them interesting. I agree about complementing the Polaris. My CSi is also Polaris. I probably would not make the swap, but I like the look.

I like the look and would consider it on my own Polaris CS. I wonder if they will be as effective signaling the other drivers in daylight as the amber - my only reservation.

Gorgeous car in all respects.

you can put yellow bulbs in the fixture - my porsche has clear side lamps with yellow bulbs, and they still look clear ... but have yellow light. another thing worth considering is yellow led lamps behind a clear lens.

I'm not so sure. I find the amber turn signal lights in many cars help break up the colors a bit. As an example, clear lenses on a white E90 make the car look like an egg, because the whole car is one color. In your case, since the car is Polaris and your chrome trim is still chrome, (rather than black) the effect would be similar.

Just my opinion.

Thanks all for your comments and feedback. I am curious about the LED bulbs, will they simply install into the existing fixture?

I'm on the fence with the look. On one hand I think x_atlas has a point, but on the other, making them disappear has its merits (like in the 1/4 view).

btw, if you took these photos yesterday, I must have just just missed you. I was down for a day trip and came through the Navy yard.

I like how they look on your car but I liked the amber too...
Hard to decide which I would do on your car. I like the amber on my Chamonix.

REALLY nice

I wish I had your problems...

I love the color, the rims, the front air dam, and I think the clear turn signals really complement what you've already done.

Definitely keep em.

As with most questions, the answer is "yes, but...."

SuperBriteLED sells LED arrays mounted into a socket that plugs right into any automotive bulb receptacle (see illustration below). So yes, it will "install into the existing fixture".

The issue is that LED's draw so little current that a conventional flasher unit won't trigger. So you either need to add resistors in parallel with with the bulbs or substitute an electronic flasher. SuperBriteLED sells parts for both solutions. Check out: http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Ftail-brake-turn.html%23flasher

I think the Ambers make the car look more expensive and the clears make it look more modern. Overall I think I like the clears. I also really like the Green pinstripe. You can paint the front of an Amber bulb Silver to not show under the cover. I did this on my M3 Sedan with clears and it works well for minimal $$
