Why do think this would be a 5 speed?

Well it's a 528i with a manufacture date of 12/78, which means it's a 1980 model year. My understanding is that '80 -'81 528i's had the 265/6. Thoughts?

I'm glad you read the manufacturers tag and not the ad like me.
Seller claims it is from a 530i.
That vin is a 528i
it's a mess.
Be careful!

Still having a hard time figuring out your math here can you help us out?

12/78 would make it a 1979 model year car. Model year productions run from about July or August of the previous year through June or July of the model year.

LOL okay okay. My mistake. The ad is a mess but basic math is failing me this weekend. It is in fact a 528i, and you can see the rear badge also says 528i. However, my enthusiasm outweighed my arithmetic.

Yeah I remember that one, I mentioned it in the weds eBay post. Those wheels are rough!
