I haven't been able to contribute much to the forum so far as I don't have an actual CS to work on yet. The '74 Mintgrün (aka Invidia) is being prepped for the drive back to KC from Kalamazoo and Stephanie and I are still waiting for the second vaccination immunity to kick in. But when I do have the vehicle in hand, I'll do my best to regale the forum members with tales of successes and failures, despair and jubilation, wild tales, and my uninformed opinions, IMHO.

In the meantime, I've recently spent some time taking my old copy of the original CS Parts Manual and doing a high-resolution scan, performing OCR and then assigning a basic indexing (actually Stephanie did the indexing). The OCR is not perfect and the indexing is just high level but I think overall it is very usable.

So much so that I use this manual and my 2002 digital manuals every day for research and clarification when working in the shop. Web sites like RealOEM, W&N, etc., have so many omissions and ellipses that their information is often just frustrating. This version of the manual is, I believe, the last complete update of the CS Parts Manual so it should be as comprehensive and as accurate as any OEM parts manual can be.

The PDF document is at: https://e9coupe.com/tech/CS Parts Manual for e9coupe.pdf

Thanks to Dan and Chris for helping to get this added to the Technical Information section.

Enjoy!

Thanks - That kind of info is always great to have. I used the one for the 2002 for many years (I had both the PDF as well as paper copy for that one).
Comes in really handy.

you can get a lot from BMW themselves in the archives. Its in German by default but if you look at the bottom of the page there's a language option for English or if you use Chrome (or Edge Chromium) you can auto translate to your desired language.

All the files I've used so far are watermarked so you couldn't reprint them and sell them, but they are perfect if you want to use or reference them. The colour & upholstery references are quite good as you can see the original dealer leaflet that a buyer would see. Also before you get excited the repair manuals and the mobile tradition CD are not there!

Main link for the E9 - BMW Classic - Recherche-Client (bmw-grouparchiv.de)
  • Open the right hand side of the screen, expand Karosserievariante hat Typen or Body version has types
  • Select your model type, in my case BMW 3.0 CS (E9) and this opens a new page for your model
  • Customer literature are the dealer leaflets eg for colour & upholstery
  • Vehicle documentation are the hand books, operating instructions, owners guide
  • Workshop literature Parts catalogues, Additional parts catalogues and references to the repair manuals (unfortunately they're not available)
  • Press kits - press releases from BMW
  • Product occurs in AV-Media - adverts and films made about the models - can be quite fun to see the original ads

Thanks for this…never knew it existed!

I've been hunting for the repair manuals and the MT CD for a while. Trying to also build up copies of templates and PDFs as well to fabricate what I need also as I think some are lost in email.

Thankyou @halboyles for the scanning
