I have one of these where the key cannot be removed when unlocked, the other can always be removed without the key, funny. Anyways, this one doesn't have a key and has been for sale for a while.

i tracked down an NOS one and the key stays in when unlocked

Steve, same as mine but an identical one on the NK sedan can stay unlocked without the key so I don't bother locking it.
