Whilst on holiday in the Outer Hebrides I saw and bought a magazine from 1971, the year my car was made. It is a Daily Mail Motor Show Review 1971
It detailed the majority of cars for sale in that year and their specs and prices. You'll notice from the picture that they list the 3.0 CS as £5,118 including purchase tax, the forerunner of VAT.
They then display a picture of a saloon, the pricing and description is correct.
Comparing a few of the models on sale which were similar to mine, and their prices was interesting stuff.
Aston Martin DBS V8 £7,639
Citroen SM £4,750
Ford Capri 3000E £1,666
Jaguar V12 E Type £3,387
Lamborghini Uracco £6,000 estimated
Maserati Indy £8,502
MB 350SL £5,457
Morgan Plus 8 £1,627
Porsche 911S £5,402
Reliant Scimitar GTE £2,379
Rover 3.5 Coupe £2,657
Triumph TR6 £1,514
Triumph Stag £2,177
