Thank you for sharing your experiences of growing up behind the iron curtain. I'm very glad they're now memories and not your everyday reality. Such a different life than most of us had.

Thank you. I'm happy someone was interested in that. After several years we're mostly remembering pleasant moments, aren't we?

Once Iron Curtain has collapsed, the most expensive (thus nice or eye caching) BMWs were mostly used by mafia or pimps. There was a time E31 850Ci in decent condition could be purchased for ~$4000 (current ratio)

Initial users have caused specific attitude to the owners appeared, even if after some years there was no such a rule.

But good is, driving E12, E10, E9... or any other, classic BMW is not connected to these as - despite the roundel and kidney grill - these models are not recognizable for most pedestrians but more and more making Wow-effect. :D

Bumper cars at the funfairs were quite ofter styled to BMW. It made me love that shape even more. ;)

Interesting might be that here is Poland there were produced miniature copies of Mercedes, Porsche, Jag.. and BMW.
Polish Company ALPHA from Krakow have had a right to make them and use the logos. The owner of it was (or even still is) famous polish rally driver from 60's, Sobieslaw Zasada who have had several wins on Porsche 911.

Cars were sold in the respective dealerships.

Here is an example of BMW E30 with Honda engine:

They were (as new) and became very valuable today
