Our 2800 is Polaris Neu, when did this metallic first start using a two stage clear coat. All the evidence we see on this car points to single stage. All Polaris paint is code 060. By early 70s definitely it had a clear, but 1970?

I know that my '73 Nachtblau was clear coated, as by 1976, the clear had started to craze on the car, and since it was less than 3 years old, BMW paid half the cost of repainting (I was 2nd owner of the car).
