I know early Neue Klasse sedans and 2002s used an Italic font for the paint sticker and I have seen at least one 73 coupe that had Italics. My May 73 had standard block letters before I repainted it. Any coupe owners out there who know their paint sticker is truly "Original" and has the Italics font? Can you post a photo?

Attached is a copy of one for my NK that doctored to repair it using MS Paint. Thanks.

Sorry that this does not directly answer your query.

Unable to get to mine. I am reasonably certain that subject to certain exceptions,
≥ late '72, early '73 seem to have employed the block type font similar to the one pictured here. I do not pretend to know of any definitive vin or date demarcations. As you know, different markets may have received ever-so-slightly different treatments and, like any mint, occasionally there is an unintended aberration.

However, here are several other examples that may be of some value. FWIW, the "manila" exemplar is a repro offered by La Jolla Independent. http://www.bimmerdoc.com/parts-find...c3-0700/160020022002ti2002tii/decal-kit-2002/

New stickers regardless of font

I am looking for a couple of these stickers, in with different colours printed as per the factory. Thin or thick frame is of less importance, though thin is the original style.

penske shows a couple of them still for sale (from BMW) - i have 2 schwarz labels

schwarz - 51141870903 - $14.92
fjord - 51141820270 - $1.17
polaris - 51141870904 - $6.74

real oem + penske list the part numbers for all of the others, but list them as NLA. it might be worth checking BMW NA or AG's inventory to see if any are in dealers' inventory.

Everything available today is a poor reproduction in my opinion. The originals were glossy, today they are matte with wrong font size, color and border.

One minor difference in Italics version between original and repro pictured is letter M of BMW. The outer strokes of original M are parallel, while on repro they're not. Space between M and W are also different as consequence.

Minor details aside, I appreciate people making effort and investment to reproduce such things. Repro stickers are welcome option to tatty or missing originals, and can be easily replaced if something better comes along. It's good that something very presentable is available, if not perfect.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I just ordered a W&N colour sticker and it isn't great - anyone know who is doing good ones at the moment? Its polaris metallic. Thanks

FYI I just read somewhere that BMW uses a 'special' trademarked version of Helvetica. No doubt this post-dates our cars but an interesting note.

Thanks TREMK - the Jaymic ones look more original than what I have and as I am in the UK I will give that a shot.

Jaymic doesn't do a Polaris neu sticker they say which is odd as it seems like that is what came on most e9 polaris coupes that I can see when googling?
Anyone got a lead for a good sticker that looks like Steve's above?

Below is a Jaymic sticker top and w&n lower. Jaymic also do a Polaris metallic sticker. Jaymic sticker seems much better than W&N IMHO.
