I tried to search "Forums" with my razor sharp computer skills and came up with nada. But I have purchased two Rebuild Kits from someone on this forum, one for my coupe the other for my 2002.

Does anyone have any information about this kit? It returns the Parking Brake to better than new.

Thanks,

Steve [email protected]

Might have been me...I know that I sent two partial sets to someone a while back. I only have one set left, that I need to keep...I do have extra bolts/nuts. Couple of bucks/shipping. Do you still have the instruction sheet?
All parts from McMaster-Carr.
To do one handbrake assembly (deja vu):
(1)91280A784 Bolt (hex-head cap screw)
(1)90576A120 Nut (steel nylon insert locknut)
(2)5909K14 Bearing (cage assembly for 17mm shft diam, 30mm OD, steel thrust needle-bearing) $5.47 each, two required.
(4)5909K74 Washers
I know that their prices had gone up, so I will not try to guess what they are now, but still not bad...but note what you are getting, i.e., the bearings come in a box of 4, bolts in a box of 10, nuts in a box of 25, but washers were onesies. So you can get away with buying the last two items, and buy a bolt and nut from my extras, or shop the whole thing. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Dave. I was searching for a buddy and he has since found the Ireland Engineering kit that seems to be what he needs. I probably bought one of the two kits you sent.
Returned my handbrake to newer than original.

Their's is a fair price at $25. If you order all of the parts at minimum quantities from M-C, I think its about $40 which will make four sets, IIRC. Slept since then.

The thrust bearing can be purchased on Ebay for 9 bucks (oops, 10 now), perfect size. I was able to use all the same hardware, just needed a thinner circlip. Bit of a PIA to install, I linked the entire set up using 5lb nylon fishing line, dropped in place, placed the bolt and cut the line and pulled it out.

Steve, I did this to my coupe over the winter. I think (need to check) that I have a bolt and nylock washer left over from my parts purchased. You are welcome to them if you don’t buy the IE kit. You would just need to get the thrust washers. I got mine on ebay.
