Parking lights/turn signals

I am newer to the forum and yet to acquire an e9. But on since my search has started I have notice some inconsistencies about these lights. Some have two lights on the from fender and some don't. What's the deal? I have tried paying attention to what years it may be on and which ones don't have the second light but I can't pin point it. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Also are bumpers on all years interchangeable?

European E9's do not have the extra side running light

The side running lights were added for the US Market.

That's it? I have seen quite a few that are and were for sale here in the US without both lights. So I guess that either means they were shaved or imported? Seems to common but hey I guess it is what it is. Another thing to consider when I buy I guess that if It has been reprinted or "customized" or actually a euro spec.

I deleted / filled my fronts but added side bulbs to the back of the parking lamps. To me the front just looks too busy with both lights. I wasn’t 100% happy with the decision but I left my rear marker lights alone for safety reasons, there is a lot of traffic in N.Y. so it seemed sensible but many people have deleted all 4 lights. ~ John Buchtenkirch

Many USA cars that have been repainted in the past (including mine) had the front and rear markers removed at that time to clean up the lines. A common procedure.
