Parts box with patina

I ordered new front grills for my 72 Coupe. The parts lookup said they were still available and always worry about parts becoming NLA.
So I bit hard at $250 each and put in the order 12/12.

One has shown up and this is what the box looked like.
Think it's been sitting on a shelf a while?

RH is NLA

You got a nice original one for the left side (ending on an uneven 483).
The right one has been NLA for a couple of years now.
They are being remanufactured by BMW, but have not shown up anywhere yet.
Will probably be twice the price.

Interesting? What source are you using? My dealer says its available. Haven't given up still shows as pending and not listed as NLA. They checked yesterday.
