I'm talking to fellow with pretty complete parts car. And I've been thinking would try to add AC to my 73 CSI at some point a bit down road. So current question is what parts should I try to get? An earlier post seemed to say get the console and everything in it, making sure to get all the little brackets there. And not to worry about stuff under the hood as will probably want to upgrade compressor and condenser anyway.

Did I get the facts right here? Have I missed more detailed posts about needed parts?

Secondly I'd appreciate advice on a reasonably price to offer for this collection of stuff?
Thanks in advance! Paul

It would be REALLY nice if someone would write up a procedure for retrofitting an A/C system on our coupes. I would consider putting an R134a system in but I don't want to figure it out. Been there on other swaps/retrofits and I guess its not a high enough priority to do it.

If anyone is interested I'll help clean up the formatting and post it in the Tech section.

You're on the right track. The evaporator shouldn't be too hard to find but the AC/Radio faceplate and side panels in decent condition are very hard to find. Some of these are on ebay right now for a lotta dough.

There are also copper hardlines that run off the evaporator and by the glove box you will also want.

That being said, I might measure the available space and see if an aftermarket evaporator or something from say an E28 would fit. The output of the stock evaporator goes right into the vents you already have so it might work. You'd need to find a place for the two switches.

The only other issue is the bracket for the compressor, and that's covered quite well in another thread.

I dealt with Nostalgic AC recently and they took good care of me. My car had the evaporator and switches and they sold me everything but the M30 bracket. My car originally had AC so I already had the wiring, switches and center console.

Bwana did one a while back
