I tried to roll (manual) down my window the other day and the handle seemed to get tight. I stoped, went in the revers order, it felt like the the tension went away. I proceeded to rolll the window down and felt (pop). Now the the handle rotates freely and the window is stuck 1/4 was down. The window will not go up or down. Anyone have this happen before? I looked in the old post but didn't see any reference to this issue.

Thanks Ben

Ok,I guess I have my project for the next two days. Thanks for the link to the diagram, Super helpful! Are you planing on coming down to Limerock again this year?

I have welded the spring in my Bavaria, been a few years without incident so it is possible.

I don't believe the spring has broken; the spring is only there to "help" lift the window. Something else has gone wrong.

If the handle freewheels there are several possibilities: it's no longer connected to the window regulator because 1) the input shaft has sheared; 2) the "axle" for one of the gears has come out of the regulator frame so that the gear teeth no longer line up; 3) busted rivet as noted above by adawil; 4) something else. You'll have to remove the door card, finagle the window manually into the correct position, unbolt and remove the regulator. The problem might become apparent before you remove the regulator mechanism, but it probably has to come out to do any useful work on it.

Standing by to see how this one eventuates.
