Does anyone happen to have a picture of the (US-version) dashboard buttons?

They have lettering on them ('Lights','Lighter', etc.....)

I would like to know what each looks like as I may be making a few decal kits for this style.

Any help appreciated and thanks in advance,

Mo

I assume you mean the knobs, such as lights, lighter, and wiper speed? AFAIK, they use the same icons on US as Euro. No words. In fact, I think wiper speed is blank altogether. A/C knobs have icons, with text behind, on the panel. Hazards has text but it is below the dash and molded into the button. Defroster is also below dash and has nothing on it.

Of course, someone has already done all this for the knobs (including for 2002, etc), for $18 US.
They also sell decals for the heater controls but that makes no sense to me, as the text is molded into a plastic piece that is clipped to the back of the heater control panel, not a candidate for decals.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your reply -- I am actually the person who makes the button decal kit....... I am doing a new project and can add a few black 'text' decals to it so thought I would ask.

As per your comment regarding the molded text -- I concur but for some reason there is a small percentage of coupes/ other BMW's that feature smooth plastic where the text used to be. You can conversely sand/paint and apply my decals only if the original raised area(s) are too worn.

Appreciate your adding pictures & I think maybe letters on the actual buttons may be more for the e3/2002 type interiors.

Who has instructions on how to install these decals? Are they a rub on dry type of decal or do you need to soak them?

I have made an instruction sheet you can see here.....And I also have pictures with more information for anyone who wants to buy a kit -- let me know.

Another item to research. Both of my 73 coupes says Lights on the aluminum trim on the dash rail, the light switch is blank. Both wiper switches say Wiper Speed, I think these are original.

Thank you super useful. Once I get major projects done this will be a fun easy one to do. Being a new owner took me a bit to figure everything out. Was trilled the 2nd week I owned the car to meet someone with a 73 that had everything labeled. Took a picture for reference. Most the symbols are pretty intuitive but helps to confirm. Win

I think that's what I need -- I knew you would know more about this subject as....This would be correct for the US model coupes -- I am still looking for a reliable picture to demonstrate this.

My intention was to have a few kits available but first I will have to verify what is original and how it looks -- thanks for your message.

Having the symbols on the buttons is great --- For me its really about getting a 'quick read' but the coupe only has the (3) buttons. Just one less thing to think about or memorize I guess :)
