Picked up a couple e9's

I haven't decided what I'm going to do with them yet. However, it's better that they are sitting in the corner of my shop instead of outside where the previous owner had them! I have my eye on one more e9 in hopes of making at least one running car.

This looks like a lovely forum and I hope to become a part of another restoration project here.

Funny. They do look similar, but are not the same. Sadly, mine are in worse condition. I picked them up because they were in the same town as me and I just had to! If those were closer, I might have to buy the cars from Florida as well. Can you ever have enough e9's? Thank you for the welcome!

I'll add them to the list soon Stan. Thanks Peter and Gary. Funny thing Peter, I was brought back to this site because of an add for your e9 on panjo. I'm a third of the way through your restoration thread. I wonder if I have seen your car before Gary.

My current intentions are not to take these cars apart even though that's all Prussian Motors does. That said, I'm getting a few private messages asking for parts. I've replied with: Not sure what the future holds but for now they will be sitting in the corner of my garage. I think I already know what the answer to this question is but: What is the general consensus on parting e9's in the condition of these two?

I dont want to be biased, yet there are a a myriad of assemblies and items that are surely
really needed and are no longer available.
Even though some of the parts wouldn't be in great shape,
they could be restored.

PrussianMotors,

Probably haven't seen my car. I bought it in May 2015 in Rhode Island. Drove it home, and around locally in West Chester a bit last summer/fall. Then, I started returning the interior to an original condition (a fair bit of it had been changed in the restoration/customization process in the late '80's). OE seats purchased, then the seats I bought were removed in mid-winter. Had OE type seats re-upholstered, and I'm only about 3/4 of the way to getting them all together and installed. Didn't drive it at all this summer.

Restore or part out - not an easy question. I parted out 3 Porsche 928's, so I know the work involved. The e9 I bought has no rust/mechanical issues, so i don't need to be concerned about that! Good Luck,

They look to be in similar condition to the FL cars, but not the same. I wonder just how many E9's are floating around the US in this condition? Hundreds I suppose, if not more.

Agreed. These are different. The white CSi is actually not quite as rusty on the surface. It is nice that these will be saved! Good luck with the project :)

Prussian, hard to tell! Either way you're looking at allot of work, and don't forget the shot :-) If you are going to make a few bucks parting out plan to be very organized and it will help if you have prices in your mind up front. Box or arrange things individually and keep your price a good way below the norm for quick sales. Pictures always help, and good luck!
