I like the old-school way more, plus the new pit-stop looks like they sped up the film.

In any era: man vs. machine vs. time is a great battle...

2 guys vs 20 - that's job creation right there. It would be a real equalizer if the driver had to exit the car and perform his/her own pit stop.
