So here are the components from BMW...

Need guidance on wire strip depth. Also, anyone know how the wire is secured into the connector?

easy and clean,
cut the wire to the apropriate leght, and just introduce the wire into the connector and turn clockwise the connector to let the screw inside fix the copper cable than lies inside the wire

again:

the connector has a screw inside pointing out, so if you introduce the wire while rotating the connector clock-wise, the screw will bite the copper

in the case of the brown connector the wire will enter without problems, but in the "L" connector (the one that goes to the distributor), you might use some vaseline (little) to help the wire enter in its place, and then do not forget to turn the connector to let the internal screw fix it

of course you: DO NOT HAVE TO STRIP THE WIRE !!!!!!!

only do a clean, perpendicular cut !

So I just insert and turn until I feel the "bite" and then resistance to further insertion?

Any suggestions for achieving a clean, square cut?

So I just insert and turn until I feel the "bite" and then resistance to further insertion? exactly ! if you turn it with your hands, you will feel clearly that there is a moment in which you can not continue turning it anymore, so STOP !
then you can check continuity with a multimeter !

Any suggestions for achieving a clean, square cut?
please don´t laugh, i use those special scissors used for cutting the roses in your garden (not kidding, they are the best for any cut involving rubber hoses, wires, etc )
if you do not have them use this thin sharp blades (we call it a cutter, right ?)

A simple miter box will deliver a square cut...

Nothing that elaborate needed, just some wire snips or utility knife will do.
