Just wondering what any of the Polaris on Blue owners have for headliner? My Coupe has been redone in a Grey Mouse fur, reminiscent of a GM headliner from 1987. My sun visors are also Grey and I am thinking original. I would guess my car had Grey fabric once, but did most Polaris come with a White headliner?

Mu coupe has a white perforated headliner, it cleaned up very nicely after the restoration. My coupe is in storage for the winter otherwise I would take some headliner photos for you.

Headliner colors

According to the parts books, CSLs had black headliners and all other E9s had white headliners.

I just learned that CSL visors were black and all other coupes had white. And of course we all know not to detach the visor from the clip. The plastic tips break rendering the visor useless and not able to be repaired.

Interesting that Grey does not appear to be a normal colour for a Silver car. I am 98% sure my Grey visors are original. I can't imagine the car had a White headliner with Grey visors. I think I would like the White colour to brighten things up. (photos appreciated) I believe my Coupe came from France if that makes a difference in equipment.

Bob,

Definitely should be white. Check out the vranedom.com site and my headliner page. Both also happen to be polaris coupes. Does your coupe have the molded front piece in which the visors recess?

Unfortunately, the original white perforated fabric is not available. However, La Jolla has material which is fairly close. I thought World Upholstery did, but is they had changed material from their sample card (may have changed back) and I ended up returning it.

I agree with the others, the headliner and sunshades should be white.

My '72 fjord w/ originally blue cloth (now leather) has white.

My old '72 CSi polaris/ blue cloth was also white.

Wow, quality headliner installation. Care to do another??
Yes, my coupe has the slot for the visor.

I'll post photos of what I have. Maybe the sun visors are ultra rare and valuable!!

Visors

Speaking of visors....does anyone know who might have the cheesy plastic part that the visor hinges off of....screwed to the roof? Another case of the spouse ignoring the "don't touch that or you may break it" rule. The pin pockets I got from Carl. Took some creative reaming to make them work.

Materials

When I had the interior of my coupe worked over, the shop sourced from:
SMS Auto Fabrics of Portland, OR [email protected] 503-263-3535 At the time they had a nice stash of hard to find perf. fabrics and matched to my samples. Good prices.

Here is the visor. What color had Grey originally if it wasn't used on Silver cars?

Original colors of--

visors and headliners were all white regardless of exterior paint color. I do understand that CSL's had visors that were 1/2 white--when in the up position--and 1/2 black when folded down--believe it was to minimize reflected glare.

The original orange parts books confirm that only one visor was provided for non-CSL coupes, other than accommodating LHD vs. RHD and various country requirements, meaning it was white. The CSL used black.

Any idea what a quality headliner makeover costs with a sunroof?
