I travel alone a fair amount for work which often leaves me a bit bored in the evenings. I am getting in the habit of posting on the forum to see who might be willing to meet up while in a specific area.
This trip to sunny South Florida I got to meet Drew and "Turkis". Thanks for your hospitality and filling an otherwise empty evening!
Beautiful car, our tastes align in unique vehicles.
If ever there is a time to say the details of this coupe are not given justice in a photo it's here, the combination of color and brightwork make this one amazing in person.

Tom has a real story to tell the forum about how he built his 2800CS from 2 Coupes. He had the opportunity to sit for the first time in the passenger seat of my non-running 1972 2002 . I think an "E10" project is in his future.

I couldn't believe how much room a 2002 has inside for tall guys!
Yeah - When I bought my 2002 (actually, when I test drove one back in 1983) - I had my dad with me. He was a pretty big guy (6'4"). He was very surprised for how he fit in the 02. That was actually one of the positive points for my family on the car - it was 'usable'.
A short time later when I moved down to SLO from Monterey (for school) - That car swallowed a TON of stuff.

I'm 6'6" and had room to spare in Drew's 73. Impressive.
Also impressive are the mini coopers and VW GTI's for their size.

One of the reasons 2002s have so much head room is that the seats cushions by now are bagged out, turned to dust. I might know, having been 6'6" since high school, and having had 15 of the little critters. I've re-stuffed front and rear seats with a variety of materials. Wish I hadn't sold some of them, but always turned a few bucks and had a good time. They are very scarce now in Hawaii but there is an amazingly clean example on the upper rack at the local dealer's shop. As I understand, it belongs to one of the upper guys there.

hey i'm 6'-3" and tall from the waist up. i started driving a 2002 in 1980 - it was a '76 with a sunroof, so he seat hadn't bagged out yet. i had zero headroom issues in the car whether the sunroof was closed or open. plenty of room in that car. since then i had a 74 with a sunroom and a 76 with a sunroof + e21 recaro seats - zero headroom issues.

Now, speaking of headroom. My wife recently got a VW ID Buzz. I'm 6'2", and I think I have about 8 inches (!!) of headroom in that car...even more if the seat is all the way down.. But there is no need to do that...
