possible failing alternator advice

Why not just replace the diode bridge locally, no need to rebuild the other parts...
 
10-4 Don and I just found a used AL45X on ebay for $90 bucks that I will try to have rebuilt and then swap over to have a spare that I can rebuild too. Chris' store in Maryland still does alternator rebuilds...
 
Well guys, a nice ending to this story -- had my original alternator tested at my local BMW vintage shop this morning and she tested fine! And the $90 remanufactured backup AL45X I got on ebay tested at 13.8 volts too so I'll make that a standard trip comparison for me going forward (plus the spare voltage regulator I always carry since Monterey 2016)...
