That's awesome Bob , hold on to that car. As these cars become harder and harder to find good examples of, older models will gain in provenance. My friend just bought a 2500 that was supposed to be one of the first Hoffman E3's imported to the US. Now I am curious what the VIN is, I will report back if ok with him. Also, this might sound weird, but who knows, some day the E3 may be harder to find than an E9. The thinking there is they never really held their value over the years vs. the coupe. Therefore, many more of them have gone by the way-side due to rust and being parted out to support the much more valuable coupe. It's just a theory, but one to keep an eye on. I'll let you know what I find out. Either way I need to encourage him to get it in the registry. I see a couple of 216XXXX VINS in the registry but did not see yours. You should get it in there! What I find curious is the US spec 2800 Bavaria has a lower number than an earlier year Euro 2800 (230XXXX, 241XXXX, 242XXXX), and yours 246XXXX). That makes no sense. Maybe somebody can explain.
