Hello Everyone,
I originally purchased a 1970 E3/2800 with the intent of restoring it. A couple of years ago, I acquired Series I VIN #242 0398 and have spent two years acquiring parts:
If you check my E3 VIN number, you'll see that this is one of the original 708 Series I vehicles shipped to the US.

It's not rare by any means, but it is a car that might be interesting to the right BMW owner. If you read my build (more of a blog) you'll notice that lately I've been moving towards the idea of building a hybrid car - something I can drive on the street, but also drive on the racetrack... the kind of project where I'll be doing a lot of cutting and modifications... and something doesn't feel right to me.. cutting up an original Series I vehicle is bad karma.
I'd rather use a Series II vehicle (VIN 310xxxx or 313xxxx) for my project because they're more common (nearly 11,000 vehicles in the 4spd and auto categories).
So now that you understand my mindset, I'm curious to hear your thoughts. I'm putting feelers out.. is anyone interested in this Series I E3 project?
Full disclosure: the vehicle isn't running at the moment, and I'm located in Southern California. It's an original California blue plate car, but the VIN is not in the DMV database. If there's a California buyer, I'd be willing to work with that individual and get the VIN back in the system.
Looking forward to hearing your response(s).

PS: I put this in off-topic because I haven't officially put the vehicle and parts up for sale.

Growing up in Florida during the 1970's without TV created a childhood full of adventures, projects, mayhem and mischief. I am particularly indebted to my parents who led unique lives and encouraged independence, experimentation, learning from failure, and taking on risk. The common thread was a life of being creative, active and involved.
I'd kept a written journal since middle school, and during college I penned an entry which essentially defined the way I've lived my entire life:

Some of you might've noticed I post a lot of bits in the cars & parts for sale area... what can I say? I love hunting for parts...
Here's some stuff I've acquired over the last 8 months... first up, 4 door shells from a polaris 1970 2800.. hat tip to GermanOnly on eBay up in the Sacramento, CA area. Recommendation: skip eBay. Go for a cash deal. Significant discount if you pickup items in person.
Part are from VIN #246 0704.
