Hello, dear E9 forum community.

I'm almost at the finish line. A few minor corrections and the end result should be satisfactory.
In a few days I will also have the windshield defrosters ready.
They are in the process of printing.
Unfortunately, it took a while and I had to make a lot of test prints because I wanted the highest quality.
Contrary to appearances, these are not easy elements to print.
An alternative is SLS printing, but it is still very expensive and probably no one will want to pay that much...
I think this quality is quite satisfactory.
I still have a few corrections planned and I will be testing them over the next few days.


I would also like to thank several users of this forum for their invaluable help in designing these elements.

The defrosters should be ready on Friday/Saturday, and when it comes to the program that helped apply the texture, it is Blender.

Applying this elephant skin texture to the side panel of the AC system was a challenge.
A lot of test prints and testing various printer settings.

We are still working on improving the quality of the AC front panel.
We want to obtain the smoothest possible surface before applying structural paint.
I think we'll have the final version without visible layers next weekend.

The final version of the front panel will also have the control descriptions as in the original.

Hello forum users.

We were away for a while but we were busy working on a few details and checking the fit of individual elements on the car that is being assembled.
We wanted to make sure that everything fits.

When designing the central air conditioning panel, we used the forum thread of user Markos and made a few small modifications to our panel, which were discussed in the thread below regarding 3D printing.

Before selling my AC Setup, I decided to send the E9 face plate out to a SolidWorks modeler to recreate. The part is in the mail and I should have a draft design by the end of next week.

I called for three designs. One with the standard radio opening, one that is blank, and one that has three gauge holes. The blank one may have lines in the back to facilitate the cut out of the radio on the future. I haven't checked if gauges will fit the space yet. My CSI was a rats nest of stereo wires in that area.

I intend to print with a professional 3D printer, and sell them with a markup to...

We can make the panel without these modifications or with them.

We can also make two different structures on the central panel.
More or less intensive.

On each panel, according to your wishes, there will be markings as in the original. You can choose a German or English version.

The side covers with imitation elephant skin texture are a perfect match for the replicas of the sides of the center console made by our forum member Alberto.

The replica of the air duct was installed in the car to check the correctness of the print. Contrary to appearances, this element is not easy to print because it consists of many surfaces set at the right angles.

The last element ready to date is the replica of the windshield defrosters.

We are currently working on several other elements.
Among others, an evaporator housing adapted to the modern core in order to improve the efficiency of the entire system.

Below is the price list for individual elements:

Air conditioning evaporator air duct - 400 Euro.

Central console with surface structure and with markings in a given language - 360 Euro.

Par of side covers with imitation elephant skin - 340 Euro.

Pair of windshield defrosters - 300 Euro.

Shipping costs within the EU included in the price.
Shipping costs outside the EU plus 30 Euro.

This is an interesting topic.

From my knowledge gained from E9 users, it appears that the efficiency of the air conditioning system leaves much to be desired, as does the cold air distribution system.

I once had an interesting chat on this subject with Mr. Don.

After his information and suggestions, we came up with the idea of modifying the evaporator air duct and adding appropriately profiled side outlets to it.

The final development of this idea is to modify the evaporator housing itself in order to adapt the modern evaporator core and integrate the air duct itself with the evaporator housing, adding side outlets at once.

Fortunately, we have access to several cars that will be restored or are currently being assembled.
Thanks to this, we can test the fit of individual elements and test possible modifications.

We will keep forum users updated on the progress of work on individual elements in this topic.

Suggestions, comments and constructive criticism are welcome.

looking forward to hearing of your development on this ... of course then there is the decision of where / how to put in other vents. one approach is to connect them to the defroster vents. another is to do something in the panel under the steering column ... the passenger side is a little more difficult - perhaps under the glove box. i am curious how a flexible duct will work around the passenger glovebox supports
