Im new here but thought coupe owners would be interested. Im very active on other forums. Ive learned about the sport style petri made st wheel used back in the day..... they go for over 500 these days.....

pls look at my post posted on other foums....:

Pls look at my message below.....it was posted by me on another vintage forum...tell me your thoughts:

Hi all......

Like many here Im always searchng for a good vintage score. I know a "vintage" r style wheel was just reproduced recently.......I recall it was like 400- 500 ish?......

I always felt the 350 mm Prototipo was a tad too small for the 911 cockpit..

Well, Im in the process of putting together an Alpina style 2002.........and many of those cars had period wheels that were very prototipo/monza like......14-15" or so.

Listen to what is possible.....Ill go into greater detail if need be.....pm or e me.

If we get 100 wheel orders..not maybe's but ppd. And we absorb the tooling costs(@5500)....so 55 per wheel.......we can have a real new Momo Prototipo in 360 or 370 or 380 mm, our choice....black or silver. They all need to be black or silver and all one size. Total costs w/ tooling incl for under

260.00!!!!!!!!!

That is wholesale pricing.

Shipping not incl.

My reaction......wow.......This seems all VERY doable. Downtime is 4- 5 mos max. To me....this is just great......really.

Tell me your thoughts......

Definitely would be interested if it is an actual 'genuine' Momo silver Prototipo steering wheel in 370 or 380mm.

I´ve made pictures of an old article from a german motorsportmagazine.

AutoMotorSport 18/1972

You can see many vintage sport-steering-wheels from the 70ties .
The pictures ar only in black and white, but i think that dont matter.
On the two lists below you can read details about the steeringwheels.
(in case you speak german :? )

Yes, here´s an article about the 3,0 csl Alpina, with a steering-wheel with 3 holes in the horicontal spokes.........

And also GS-Tuning used this Prototipo, both, Alpina and GS had them in 350mm and 380mm

See first pic........

Cheers Orangener, i have a momo in mine, but wasn't sure which type it was. Looking at that pic, it appears to be the jackie stuart.

</a>

I have also this very rare and hard to find Motorsport-steering wheel, but it´s in such a good shape, that it would be a crime, to install it:

Is that price dollars or Euros? The US dollar is weak, and for 260 Euro I can get an original Petri off eBay.

Currently I have an M1 wheel in my e9.

Orangener,
Very interesting material indeed

Is there any chance that you could make a better scan of above to make these pages more readable... I do read German :D

Thanks in advance :)

Orange......

That Motorport wheel has also been known as an Indianapolis if I recall correctly....they made a few variations. Can you tell me who re-did your leather/...costs?...very nice.

Euros or USD?
The 260 price is in USD.........if you can get a Petri for 260 euros...Id consider having you get me one!......seriously.

The work was done in Bratislava, Slovakia, thats only 70km from Vienna.
Price was 75€ for the wheel and for the cover 25€, total 100€.

And yes, youre right, its in fact an Indianapolis Formel...

I just watched two sell on eBay this week for less than 260 Euro. They're on German eBay all the time. Many times the sellers don't state they will ship internationally, but if you send them a message they often will agree to ship.

I'm just angry at myself that I did not buy one 4 or 5 years ago when prices were closer to 150 Euro and the Dollar was much stronger.

I also have a Momo that looks like the Indianpolis, but has wire on top of the spokes going to the horn buttons and the black Spoke cover says MotorSport on it.It has Red Stiching It is very similar to the Factory MotorSports wheel.I will post a picture,if I can figure out how.
Also did the CSL Sport Wheel come in Leather?I have 4 or 5 of these in 350mm and 380 mm.Only one is covered in leather and it was Redone.
Thanks

Only the "real" 380mm 3-spoke-3-hole Petri of the CSL was covered with leather, i you have one, your a lucky guy......... :)

I'm looking for a "real" 380mm 3-spoke-3-hole Petri for my CSL. I have three of the rubber coated version and three of the leather covered Italavanti early Motorsports wheels that I am willing to offer in a trade.

I am also interested in the leather covered wheel similar to the Petri and with black spokes that is shown in the CSL brochure with an Inka CSL on the cover and a Golf CSL featured inside. I would like to have more info as to what this wheel is. Thanks! RB 2275030
