Besides opening up the bolt on the block and getting coolant all over myself, the subframe, and the ground, what is a good way to flush the rest out with water? Where to hook a hose up for max cleanse and any other tips?

Mercedes-Benz has a citric acid coolant flush which cleans out the whole system.
This was the lowest price I could find: https://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/53126/Citric-Acid-Cooling-System-Flush-000989102511/

Summit Racing sells garden hose fittings for flushing the system: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/RNB-47018
You'll need to bypass the thermostat, which is one of the fittings. May be able to back-flush the system with this kit, that will help clean out any deposits.

I have my coolant system flushed every other year with the M-B citric acid & have a local shop do it.
