Question about E9 Window Motors - Front vs rear

I need to find replacements for my front window motors. They're the early type (1970 2800cs).

I was able to locate a pair, but they are from the rear. I know the motors are the same, but I've heard that wiring in the front and rear are different. I'd like to keep the same connectors and don't want to splice wires. Can anyone verify if these wires are the same or are different?

Thanks!

The motors should be the same and it is actually better to get rear motors because they are seldom used.

As Arde said, the motors are the same - all four motors have three wires coming out of them, color coded the same way. The circuit differs between F and R since the R's have two sets of switches, while the F's just have one.

E28 electric window motors installed….

I will know in ~48hours but I have had a number of projects tackled (by people with the talent that I do not have) including the installation of replacement window motors on all 4 windows installed into my coupe. Sourced and refurbished from an E28 I believe.

I don't know about you but when I drop the windows I put them all down
And open the sun roof too! ;)

And I would still buy your old motors because with your weather that may be twice a year :).

E9 Window Motors

The Rear window motors from an E28 practically bolt straight onto the E9 Regulator and work much faster than the original!!

Thanks Guys.

So if the motors are the same and the wires are the same, then these are easily interchangeable, without having to make any wiring modifications? The difference in circuits should be all in the switches correct?
