Question about fusebox area

I’m going to reveal my ignorance here but hoping that the hive mind can help a newbie. When I open the fusebox panel there are two things I don’t understand
1. There is a yellow wire that is bare at the end and unattached to anything else. When I purchased this car the aftermarket radio wasn’t receiving power and there was a bare red-colored wire heading to the radio clearly as the power cable. One would think that the two separated wires would perhaps go together but no. I spliced into the primary power cable to power the radio which now works fine. Looking at the wiring diagram the yellow wire would seem to be for fog light but I don’t have one and am not sure why someone would just leave this wire as-is. Any thoughts? Also my horn doesn’t work so I’ll have to probe into that
2. The black knob on the side wall runs to a cable end that looks like a speedometer-type cable but it’s unplugged. The manual says this is the trip mileage recorder. I assume it just plugs into the back of the speedometer?
I spent some time in this area over the weekend installing my upgraded fusebox but these were two things I couldn’t figure out yet
Thanks all, appreciate your wisdom

#2. Yes odometer reset cable plugs into the back of your speedometer. Twisting the black thing in your picture spins the odometer wheels.

Your wiring has been modified by a previous owner as evidenced by the crush connectors. I assume the red wire is the one you added for the radio and it should come from the protected side of fuse #10. It also looks like you used a crushable splice to connect it which I do not care for but was commonly used back in the day when stereos and alarms were added. What year is your coupe? You can add it to your signature.

@HB Chris thanks for the info. I agree that the crushable splice isn't my favorite option but in the somewhat tight quarters there I wasn't sure what other options I might have. Happy to do some rewiring if you have a better proposal. Interestingly the red wire that I plugged into was not wired into the fusebox but instead was it's own separate cable running forward through the firewall and wired into the battery with a fuse closer to the battery. This is a configuration I've seen for aftermarket-added options so I thought that was probably the original use for that cable. There's also an amp that was installed in the trunk so I think that wire runs from battery to amp and now I just tapped into it for radio power.
Any thoughts on the open yellow cable? Perhaps it doesn't matter and I'll at least put a end crimp on it so it doesn't bump up against something it shouldnt.
Thanks also for the info on updated my signature.

You can put a volt meter on it and turn on various items to see when it gets power. I see you have the newer spade fuse block which is a nice improvement.

Is that yellow wire in the same sleeve as the white, yellow and green?
