My neighbor came over to weld my hood bar using his small $65 welder from Walmart it is amazing. After he finished I noticed that the car would not start. Is it possible that the grounding connection could have done some damage to some electrical component? Too cold and snowy to check today in Maryland. I did check my old coil and the resistance is over 3.8. The car was running a few weeks ago. It does crank well.

Do you have an electronic ignition, such as a 123 distributor or a Pertronix? Is your car carbureted or does it have electronic fuel injection? Solid state devices are sensitive to the voltage spikes that a welder can produce.

Yes I do have a Crane ignition module. It is carbureted. We did remove the battery from the car
