While I am the first to recognize that I am not the Beemer expert here, I wonder how many people in the parts world have a clue.

Problem, while searching for a variety of parts, and ideas, I have often found the 2800cs not listed.

I have been told they fall into the "M-Series", then the "2-series+ and that no parts are made for them and nothing is interchangable.

So is there a reason why a 1600,2002,2000B,3.0 are all listed (whole catelogs not single items) and no 2800cs?

Is my ignorance costing me parts?

Rob

You´re probably putting the VIN into the websites listing parts (o the ignorant people trying to help you).

For any VIN before some time 76/77 the results will be erraneus.
Same at the parts counter of the BMW dealer. They ask for VIN, you give and then they confidently hand you parts for an E30, E21 or even E28....

Ignore VIN. Go by Model and year

try these sites for research:

http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do?kind=P&arch=1&lang=enUS

Go here:

http://www.penskeparts.com/fiche.aspx

Then start with 2.5-3.0csl and go through the choices until your car model and options are selected. Bookmark it. Then you can find all your parts and part numbers to use to find the best source. Penske is great for customer service but there are often better prices at Tomkinson et al but you will need the part number to search those sites.
