This sale today was amazing.
Nice car and well done presentation.

Questions-
Is that exhaust totally custom? Love the dual exhausts all the way from headers.

I have headlight wipers but my motors are in between the lenses not above like these.
Any ideas where these came from?

Got some ideas of things I'm going to do to my recent rebuild.

Thanks,
Gary

Everything on the car is custom. HL wipers are modified e24. Yours are “correct”.

Beautiful work on car, the craftsmanship and attention to detail is top notch. But man those seats, steering wheel, and dash veneer are terrible. The factory seats are so much prettier.

I think the car needs to be seen in person to appreciate the interior modifications. The pictures somehow don’t convey how well it works as a package. Sitting in a set of Scheel seats in an E9 (and driving it on some twisty roads) would also help make clear why Cain chose them for his masterpiece.

Every person who personalizes a car knows their tastes in performance and appearance is done for themselves, and not the general public. This was an 8 year project that Paul Cain kept for many years. Then he sold it to the seller in the auction who obviously liked all of the things that Paul did to the car. I didn't read where the seller changed much of anything. And the seller is a BMW person. I wonder how long he had the car and why both he and Paul sold the car.
I hope the buyer joins the Forum and enjoys a remarkable Coupe.

The factory seats have a look that is difficult to beat. I think they are far prettier than CSL Scheel 100’s. This car has has scheel 400’s. Like it all or not, the distinct style is very period correct for the theme of this restoration.

The same can be said for the steering wheel, although it is an M535i wheel not an M1 wheel. The term M1 wheel is used interchangeably for those larger more appropriate 380mm whee. The M1 wheel is closer to 365mm and has visibly stubbier spokes.
