Rear differential rubber mount problem

BMW’s curse has always been too straight of a drive shaft with the resultant brinnell effect on the u-joint. The higher the diff mount- the worse the problem. After brinnell comes spall and gall

for those following this thread - I would think the difference between OP’s diff mount old and new is simply the rubber mount aging and being pulled out. That’s what I see looking at the pic. Standard extraction process. The rubber is proud of the metal mount.

Good read and I always likes Jlevie's observations. I guess the question comes back to is there enough loss of negative camber to justify adding a spacer to these 1/2" or so shorter mounts?

This might have a slight effect on driveshaft alignment too but is it significant?
That is what pushed me into concern, I didn't want to rip up a brand new center driveshaft bearing.
