Oh gentlemen of E9, Experience. My original 72/73 3.0cs needs rear bulbs replaced My original Owners Handbook, page 46, says to unscrew two knurled nuts and take out the bulb holder. I successfully, thanks to WD40, removed the nuts; but the covers won’t budge. HELP please I don’t think they have ever been removed.

Many thanks

It is a bit easier with the cardboard tail panel removed. Remove the white knurled nuts and it should just pull off, it is probably stuck to the rubber seal.

My vote is the sticky, probably well smushed rubber seal. But double check to see if someone has installed a couple more nuts on the adjacent posts. Pretty common to get the lights to seat.

many thanks. I’m next going to try removing the tail panel. It hasn’t been removed since the reassembly after the bare metal restoration in 1990

you were right. I have been able to get them out and test the bulbs. Bought some new bulbs and electrical contact cleaner. It works sort of. Unfortunately the rear passenger side signal light, while working sometimes, will fall out every time I try to put the complete light set back in. Tried adjusting the spring contact on the bottom, to no avail. Looks like I need to find Dealer in Vancouver. Many thanks and cheers.
