Just a question or two I was at the local parts place the other day some one made the suggestion of putting a e28 rear subframe in the coupe

Why would that be better than the e9

Is it stronger

Better options as far as brakes

Better options as far rear diffs

Better camber/toe

Any insight would be helpful

Although an E28 rear subframe looks similar you need to remember that

1.. Diff rear mount is different, would need to modify
2.. Springs are combined with shocks, would need to modify suspension mountings in rear arches.
3.. I think the trailing arms are longer, wheels may not be centered in arches.
4.. Diff housings are different, might need to modify/shorten prop shaft.

I considered it but decided it was too much work

The most common answer is for the diff options. Side loaders aren't exactly common, especially side loader LSDs.
