I have two interior rear view mirrors. One with a hazed mirror surface; one with broken plastic on the pivot joint.

Can one pull the mirror apart to swap the glass pieces?

I'd rather take on polishing the "hazed surface" than try to pry out the mirror.

There is (always) another route: get a thin mirror (from whatever) cut to fit over the hazed surface. Nearly un-noticeable, inexpensive, effective; the only thing you'd lack is the reduced-glare night vision.

Thanks Honolulu. Sorry wasn't clear. It's the inside mirror surface that isn't good. Attaching a new mirror on top of old one is a good fall back.

Maybe my mirror is different but I had the glass in my 70 2800 CS re-mirrored many years ago. I don't recall exactly what I did but I think I just flexed the plastic housing and slipped the glass out. Putting it back in was similar. Maybe sometimes not knowing what you can't do works out OK.
