That's right, my dash top is red. I have never seen another car with a colored dash, but mine is red, the same color as the the rest of the interior, with the exception of the lower dash/glove box components, the console, and door trim, all of which are black,

My quesion is.."has anyone seen a colored dash before"? It certainly looks original,as it looks like vacuum applied plastic over foam. Id like know if it is worth original, and how common it was to have a non-black dash.

Thanks

Are you sure it hasn't been sprayed? If you find a spot to check the back of the vinyl, you can confirm. Red vinyl is red on the front and the back. Black vinyl sprayed red will be black on the back side.

Okay my ignorance. I'm new to the E9 and didnt realize the typical dash was smooth vinyl over foam. I thought they had a stiched appearance. So....my red dash definitely is not original and is in fact stitched vinyl.

Thanks everyone.

Mauler- My car is indeed the Canadian Ebay car. However im not sure about the autotrader connection.

Thanks

Hi Scott, as I mentioned in your new member post it was on autotrader three weeks before you bought it for $20K less. It was a flip but that shouldn't change yours or anyone's opinion on the car. The flip price was a bit high for the currently depressed market but it will work out just fine in the long run, and you have a sharp looking car. It was definitely worth way more than $20K, which is why it sold in a day or so...

Even if you are doing minor updates it would be cool to see a project thread on the car. I'd love to see more pics of it!
