Remove the power steering belt

I'm in the process of replacing the water pump on my 1973 3.0 CS, which requires removing the power steering and alternator belts. I've loosened the four adjustment bolts on the power steering pump (front and back), but can't get enough movement in the pump to loosen the belt. While these sound like novice questions, I'm clearly missing a step in the process. Any help and guidance is appreciated! Alex

The power steering pump mounts via two steel brackets (one in front and the other behind) shown on the diagram & picture below. To loosen the pump you need to loosen the four bolts that are in the slotted position which fasten to the aluminum mounting bracket.

The alternator bolts you need to loosen are top and bottom. You may have a slightly bent mounting bracket (or just stuck from age) which could prevent movement.

Update: I was able to get the PS belt off with lots of pulling - maybe it is the wrong belt? The removed belt is a Dayco Top Cog 15420 11A 1065, also 372 E:13

Thank you, boonies! I just needed to shove the alternator harder, and that belt came off with no trouble.
