Removing auto gear lever?

Can anyone advise me how to remove the upper part of my '74 auto gear lever?
So that I can remove my console section.

FYI, it is the T-bar version not the gated version shown in the repair manual.

From the pictures below you just need to grab the T and turn it to the left.

Thanks Peter - Worked perfectly !

Took a few tries to put it back again. Inside tube is also threaded and also has to line up or you can't get the lockout to release.
