there are several threads about trunk/hood emblems, yes the raised letters three pieces (emeblem, socket, rubber)

these are difficult to find, so sometimes you can make it with an old one and some patience, there are even better tools (aerograph of course), but sometimes...you can live with it...

A friend asked me for this so here you are i hope it inspires other people

this one even had a notch shaped like a triangle, more a piramyd , you can see left central in the black area, so you need a dab of mastic first

Question: how did you clean it up at the begin? As in how did you remove the old paint without damaging those thin aluminium ridges? Chemical paint remover?

Pretty good for paint cleaning on surfaces we don't want to damage are: steel wool "000" or dremel brass brush (on mid-low speed).

I wonder if it would be worth it to powder coat the clear at the end. Better protection. But Not sure the thin aluminium would survive the 400 degree temp.

I have thought about doing this in a toaster oven, sprinkling on the powder. A unique opportunity that you can’t replicate with most parts.
