Having scraped myself from the floor after being told by my local bmw dealer that rear brake discs are $1243 each......luckily I only need two and the fronts....
I need to cast the net a bit wider and need some alternatives.
W+N have them for €84 and given previous great service I'm leaning that way, but also saw Ireland engineering have same at $108. Anyone else I could look at? Hate to probably pay so much in shipping but $2.5K for local is beyond a joke.

Still not too bad a day, dumped our idiotic Prime Minister finally:D

Cheers.

Maybe you forgot to ask the dealer for that 95% discount.

Other alternatives might include remanufactured calipers. Seriously damaged calipers can be sleeved, making them last 2 lifetimes. Then there are more pricey upgrades. Brembo and Wilwood come to mind.

Good hunting.

I ran into this a few months ago when looking at caliper prices. Bavarian Auto has them for only $444.95 each. Penske lists them for a reasonable $142.11, but the people at Bavarian Auto say that this price is wrong.

Thanks guys for the replys,
The calipers are at the brake shop now so I'm waiting to hear the news on them, hopefully only seals needed...
The discs are already undersized at the rear and only marginly better at the front so I'm up for four I guess.

Anyone used W+N discs? Any feed back would be welcome before leaping in.

Cheers

John, please be mindful that this Forum is a broad political church . With the right of reply , Aussies now have a narcissist at the helm . I got my discs from Walloths .

Hi John, I used W&N front rotors, they are fine.
Simon, got your flight booked for the local derby in Melbourne? Ian.

...haven't booked yet Ian . Given the thousands of Dockers that descended on Melbourne in 2013, it would be a financial bonanza if the Eagles fans travelled too. As much as it pains me to say it, the Dockers seem to have lost their mojo at a critical time

Thanks guys for the feedback.
More points on the Amex soon I'll have enough to fly to Germany and pick the parts up myself.

Cheers,

John

I just purchased and installed front and rear rotors. The front rotors are Balo made in Germany, the rears are from Walloth and Nesch. I paid $125.00 US for the front and $96 euro for the rears. I can't attest to the rears, Balo is an OEM supplier for BMW and I have used them before without any issues. BMW wants something in the neighborhood of $400.00 US for rear which is ridiculous. I would give Walloth and Nesch a shot.

Best of luck!
Mike
