Im restoring the hood support and I need some dimensions an confirm the angle.

A External measurement of the supports (not the tube measurement) =

B Internal measurement of the supports =

C Angle =

Thank you!

Angle is 90 degrees:
A = Tube length is 1002.2 +(2×10) = 1004.2mm.
Mind you, the tube sticks a bit inside the alu/lead/x material blocks holding the springs: it's 10 mm either side.
A2 = (as measured on the hood, from middle between 2 holes to other side) =1008.6mm.

Mind you: I think the hinge is quite "square" in dimensions, but the two mating surfaces (on my hood at least) are not parallel faces to each other: see how the angle iron shows a gap at the peak of the bracket? (picture 000621.jpg) I think those 2-3 degrees are lost in the alu/lead block and it's cage.

Measurement B (on the hinge system) will show some flex, as on my car the right hinge in my system is a bit wobbly on the right side where the left is quite snug ;. Right (see pics) changes from 39mm when pushed inward, to 43 mm when pushed outward. The other side is snug with just 0.5 mm of play.
So having that total flex on 2 sides adds up to a compressed (smaller) dimension of 1009.6 mm ( arms pushed together), and 1100.0 mm when stretched to the outside.

Measuring B on the car's fender gives me 1012.1 inside to inside, which is logical as the shoulder bolt takes some space between the fender bracket and the rotating element of the hinge.

In order to reproduce accurratly, you'd need to measure the thickness that the shoulder bolt adds, and subtract that from the fender bracket left-right dimension 1012.1mm. Or install the bolts and measure again between them. That dimension should be the max width of the 2 arms. (If all is well, it should match with the values on my system; between 1009.6 and 1010.0mm)

Hmm, something strange is going on here.
After measuring them yesterday evening, I just fitted the green tube on my hood and on my car, and suprisingly it doesn't fit. It looks to be to narrow for some reason

This green part was bought some time ago. It seems to be about 15mm to narrow for a decent fit on the hood.

The shiny one in the pics is a new tube with old arms welded to it. My original tube was broken, so I just copied it by hoping the arms of and welding them to the new tube.
I just compared them, it's the first time i did it, and behold they are ~18 mm different in length. And I can't imagine I made such a measuring error.

Let me do some more checks.
I noticed that one arm on the green tube is a perfect 90 degree angle, as were the ones on my old mechanism.
The other side of the green tube however is about 87 degrees, so the arm angles in a bit to far inwards.

@aguirola ,
Would you care to share what your friend measured as length of the tube?
So I can check and possibly correct my fabrication?
The green part which is definitely original e9, is too short to fit my hood: if I install it, the tube drops out of the left and right mounting blocks.

The part I made myself is 20 mm wider (likely copied correctly from my original) and fits snug, if not 2 mm to long - I am afraid it may scrape the paint.

Hello Erik,
I have never sent measurements to anyone, but,
I can try to take a measurement, as my hood is hanging from the rafters.
Kind regards,
Alberto
