i think i may have found the answer. attached is a pic of a '74. there is another mount point that is part of the roof structure. interesting enough, even though the '74 didn't use this mount, they didn't change the tooling to delete it.
This is from 73 CS with top plastic cover off to show the bolt. It appears that the bolts threads to the roof. The bolt(or threads ) under the headliner is further away from the roof line as compared the the grab handel !
thanks Tony, this pic along with the interior of the '74 shows that it is a built-in captive nut. so that tells me that i probably can't mount to this point unless i was to remove the grab handle and replace the headliner.
Indeed it did. But as I recall there was a discussion with Peter Sliskovich about whether to keep the shoulder belt (which on the old roof had a kind of retainer above the doors to hold the belt when it wasn’t attached) and we decided not to (re)install the shoulder belt. So, I’m surmising it was a post-72 roof.

My car's build date is April 10, 1973. '73 model year 3.0 CS. I don't have picture to share (car is 2 hours away), but I am certain I have the same connections as @Markos picture shows above. I have remnants of the shoulder belts attached/hanging from these points - same as @Tony.dreamer
It has been nearly 40 years since I last drove the '73 I owned for about 5 years (I have no idea of it's build date, but it had the extended bumpers - old style, not diving boards). I do know it had a roof mount for the the front seat third belt attachments for both driver and passenger.
As I recall (in bold and underlined to be sure you recognize that this 81 year old brain does not accurately recall much that happened 40 years ago!), there was a hard 'piece' about 8" long and 2 1/2" wide that was also in the headliner area where the belt was attached that was upholstered with the same material as the headliner. This was spaced about 3/4" from the headliner, and it was used to store the shoulder belt when not in use. The 'tongue' of the outboard lap belt latch had a slotted hole in it, and a round 'stud' like metal piece on the shoulder belt attached into that slot to make it a 3 point belt system.
Thus, the car could be driven with just the lap belt while the shoulder belt was stored up between the leather piece and the headliner so nothing was 'dangling down' to distract or hit the driver/passenger. Or, the driver/passenger could reach up, pull the shoulder belt down and click it into the tongue attachment for the lap belt, fasten the lap belt to the receiver, then adjust the shoulder belt length if needed. There was NO centrifugal reel on any belt. I only rode in the rear seat once, but I again recall there was only 2 point lap belts with no centrifugal reels.'

Just ran down to the garage to snap the pic of my 73. The top belt does snap into the lap belt
Are there any optional rear seat shoulder mounts?

Like he said, to use the shoulder belt you attached it to the lap belt
What I plan on doing is shown in one of the first photos on this thread, an extender hangs down from the mounting point with a loop on the end then you use a one part lap / shoulder belt

Finally got around to checking factory parts book. In the US, the 3.0CS got the Autoflug roof mount with the small storage shelf at VINs 2240143 and 2250071 so very early in the 72 model year. Lap belt was fixed as well as the shoulder belt of course and rear seat had retractable belt.
Earlier coupes had the Klippan style fixed belts with either the lift up latch and receiver or the claw style latch with a web mounted ring receiver (I’ve never seen these on a US coupe though).
The euro Model 73 and US Model 74 both got the rear mounted retractor shoulder belts with a fixed lap anchor.

My July '70 produced US model 2800 CS has the Klippan belts with the claw style latch. It was a German delivery however.... so factor that in as you may.
