Layne’s bracket just came in-I have to say, this is a beautiful piece of manufacturing.

Here’s a couple of more pictures for the guys that do better with visuals.
Still waiting on the intermediate piece, belt, condenser and brackets to ship. The fit is perfect on @Layne bracket

which model ac compressor would you recommend for an upgrade? sanded 508? or any other for an E9?

508 or 709 works just fine. There's a lot of variations of both, different fittings and different sized pulleys etc. This is the one I like. A 709 with a 125mm pulley. Larger pulleys work (132mm I think), but can make installing the bolts more difficult. The 508 has 5 pistons and the 709 has 7. There's very little functional difference, I've used both with great results. But in theory the 709 is the "better" one, so I usually go with it if the price is about the same.

I've got another big batch of them in stock now!

Hi Layne

Sorry....I am being lazy here ;) Would you or other Forum members know of the top of your head/s the dimensions of the 3 v-belts for a '73 bavaria? I am using your bracket and a Sanden AC compressor.

1. crank - AC
2. water pump - power steering pump
3. crank - waterpump - alternator

Thank you!

Bill

Bavaria has the power steering driven from the fan like the E9, correct? I'm only able to find one belt for it on realoem. Part #32-41-1-268-688 which is 9.5 x 1155. But not so fast, in my experience those dimensions from BMW are the pitch diameter of the belt, while the modern parts stores use the "top" or outer diameter. So if you just go buy an 1155mm belt, it will be a lot shorter than needed. (full disclosure, it might be the other way around. My memory is bad) Someone here should probably know what you need though, especially if it's the same as an E9.

I'm also not much help on the AC belt. There's at least a couple different pulley sizes on the Sandens and who knows how many combinations of BMW parts. I usually just measure it as best I can, and then buy 3 or 4 of the closest sizes and return the extras. You want the shortest belt that is possible to install.

For AC I used Gates XL9345 (12.5/13mm x 885mm). I have an unknown (not stock- looks kind of like yours) compressor mounted on one of Layne's brackets.
The other belts-
Steering pump:
32411268687-MFG21
Belt 10 X 1075
Water pump/alternator:
11231711090-MFG21
Belt 13 X 1055

You can see on post #15 the belt that I used, Gates XL9341. It my pulley size might be different than yours. I had to play with two other sizes before I settled on this one in order to be able to tension it correctly.
