I was at a friends shop recently, and I saw an E9 in the back. I walked over to it, and it's a mess. Interior gone, paint done, body panels all out of whack, tons of surface rust and some rot.
My friend says it's a CSL. What I've found from coupe ownership is that everyone thinks they're CSL's who aren't in the know. So I challenge him on it (I mean it does have an aluminum hood and a Petri, and he's a car guy, so there is a slim chance he's right), and he says google the VIN.
Sure enough. '73 3.0 CSL. So odd to see one in this condition given what they bring. Out of respect for the owner I won't provide the VIN or the shop it's at though. Sorry in advance for the registry.

Poor accident repair on the passenger fender

I'm going to give mine a loving tap on the hood on the way to dinner.
